Peterbald who are Born-Bald, were born without hair & have never grown hair through-out their life.  Shami are usually born with some type of coat that they loze over a period of time from a few months to a few years so that they as adults they are considered bald or hairless.  The distinction between the two coat types, based on how or when they became bald or hairless, is only important for breeding purposes.
